Post Op - Day 2

Lauryn had a big day today. She sat in a chair for 30 minutes and walked down the hallway!! She didn't enjoy doing this very much, but it helps the body to get back to normal.  We can see alot of  progress in her today and she is awake more. You can see that she is taller now!!! She is starting to get very hungry - so far only water, juice and a bit of frozen yogurt.

Post Op - Day 1

Well, here we are Post-Op Day 1 and Lauryn did very well.  She slept most of the day, however she sat up on the side of her bed for 5 minutes and stood for a second.  She did not like doing this, as it brought with it alot of pain. She was better once she was back in bed and more of the meds kicked in.  She is loving being able to drink a bit of apple juice, a few bites of jello and a half of a Popsicle. Thanks to everyone for  the phone calls, the flowers and even a few visitors. Here's the pics of the day.......

SURGERY IS OVER!!!!!!

Hi!  It's Lauryn's mom updating her blog for her. What a relief to have my precious girl out of surgery and back in her hospital room.  We are in room 781. 
We started our day at the IWK at 6:30 for admitting. Around 8 am they wheeled her away for her operation. She was fused from T4 to T12, and only about 1/2 pop can of blood loss with the minimally invasive surgery.  We were told at 3:45 that she was in recovery. What a relief to get that call !! Lauryn was such a brave girl! We are so proud of her. She is amazing.

Thanks to all our dear friends for making the trip down to Halifax to be with us.  It sure helped make a rough day go faster.  We love you all. Thanks so much for being there.

Lauryn was wheeled up to her room around 6:15 PM. Long day, but happy with the results.

3 More Days!!!

  There's only 3 more day till my surgery! On Sunday we are going down to Halifax. Surgery on Monday! It was my last day at school today before the surgery.

One Week To Go!!!!!!!

I have one week to go before my surgery. I am getting nervous. I have been doing things that I won't be able to do for awhile after my surgery.

                            It should read "10 more days UNTIL my surgery".........
