My name is Lauryn.  When I was 8 years old, my Doctor noticed that one of my shoulder blades was sticking out more than the other.  After x-rays, we found out that I had a 27 degree curve in the thoracic part of my spine.  Off we went to Ste. Justine Hospital in Montreal, Quebec. Here I was fitted for a Spine Cor brace. Although this is an "easier" brace to wear, I still found it very difficult.
Me wearing my brace.  We just got home from Montreal and my grandfather gave me beautiful roses.

I wore this brace from September 2008 to June 2010.  Unfortunately it did not work for me.  I have a wonderful Doctor at the IWK in Halifax. His name is Dr. Ron El-Hawary.  At my last check-up April 8, 2011, my curve has now increased to 45 degrees with a lower curve of 31 degrees. Dr. Ron says that I'm now at surgery level.  I'll get another check-up this summer to see what's happening with my back. They are trying to let me grow as much as possible before my spine is fused. Here's my latest x-ray.....
